Berchtesgaden, Fussen, and Garmish With Friends!

Transportation: Drove our Car
Lodging:
Füssen: Maurushaus
Berchtesgaden: Alpenhotel Weiherbach

This memorial day we were lucky enough to have some of our amazing friends, the Roski's, come to visit us in-between other parts of their Euro adventure.  They started in Paris and took the train into Kaiserslautern, where I could easily pick them up to get the party started! We started with a cruise on the Rhine river for some Castle Views!

Over the four day weekend Ryan was in Garmisch for a JAG conference until that Thursday, so we drove down early that morning and picked him up from Edelweiss.  Garmisch is one of our favorite places, but you have to rely on clear weather to have good views.  On this particular day we were fighting with clouds and light rain and unable to get good mountain views.  After a nice lunch and a quick stop in Ettal for some beer from the monastery, we drove to Füssen for the night.  This is such a cute Bavarian town and really close to Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau Castles.

The Roski's did their Castle Tour and from there we set off to Berchtesgaden to finish our long weekend.  We had some bouts of rain, but overall had some nice moments of beautiful mountain views.

Our hotel was an easy 10 minute walk down into the village and an easy commute to the major attractions in the area.  We explored the Salt Mines, took a boat ride on Lake Konigsee, hiked, and went to the Eagle's Nest.

Hiking!

This was our second time to Berchtesgaden and it did not disappoint! The first time we had almost no views, so having peekaboo views was ok with us.

We had an incredible time spending time with our friends, trying some Bavarian Beer and cuisine, and taking in the beautiful German Alp views! Don't miss out on a trip here while you are in Europe or living in Germany!
