German Skiing Adventure at Erbeskopf

In February, Ryan and I decided we should try our hand at skiing.  I was pretty scared and Ryan tore his ACL years ago on his first attempt at skiing.  Our friend, Angela came with us and showed us the ropes.

We decided to go to Erbeskopf, about 45 minutes from the KMC area.  It's pretty much one large hill used for skiing and snowboarding and a T-bar lift.  Lift tickets were pretty cheap and I would say this is a great place for a beginner.

If you are military you can hit up the Outdoor Recreation on Pulaski for ski pants/jackets and the Outdoor Rec on Ramstein for skis, helmets, boots, etc.  Overall it was about $25 for the day for rental gear!

I have to admit I freaked out! It was pretty icy snow and once I got up I just couldn't stop and went racing down.  I even almost took out some poor children.  Once I was able to take the lift up and not fall or cry, I was able to learn some of the basic skills of stopping and turning.  I think we would go again, but professional or recreational skiers we will never be.  I was glad to have faced my fear and got out there and tried it! Thanks to Angela for putting up with my freak outs!! You were a great teacher!
